The Explorer module is the interface to the scanned results. In the Explorer you can audit, query and analyse all computers, software and users found on your network. You may also define your own custom folder and file version scans here.
Remote scanning of Windows NT, 2000 and XP workstations and servers is possible too.
As the name suggests, the look and feel of the LAN Survey Explorer is similar to the look and feel of the Windows Explorer. The left panel displays a tree containing all computers, software, users, scans and reports in the database. The right panel shows details about the selected inventory item.
The LAN Survey explorer has a recycle bin where all deleted items are kept. Accidentally deleted items can be restored easily from here. If you delete an item like a computer from the recycle bin, all related information like history will be purged too. Once an item is removed from the recycle bin, the only way to restore that item and its associated information is a restore of the database.
You can also use the explorer module to maintain a network logbook. You may link logbook entries to registered computers, users and equipment.
LAN Survey can easily be integrated with other software: both the scanner and explorer have a range command line parameters that enable you to incorporate the software in your own or other software packages.
