LAN Survey, network auditing, monitoring and inventory software

LAN Survey is a client/server application that generates detailed inventory and modification documentation of your network. LAN Survey contains an integrated network logbook with an archiving option where you can record helpdesk calls and maintenance performed by ICT employees.LAN Survey audits the following items:

Hardware and software
Users
Network clients and protocols
RAS connections
ODBC drivers
Printers
Disk usage
Directory contents
File information
IP Numbers
Event logs
Registry entries

You may manually add data as location, owner and warranty information to the scanned computers. You may also enter information about suppliers and equipment like hubs, routers and PDA's.The client software contains three modules:

The LAN Survey scanner that should be run during a user's logon. This scanner examines the computer and stores the results and modifications in an SQL database. The scanning process takes about 5-15 seconds.
The LAN Survey explorer that provides an easy to use interface to the database with a look and feel simular to the Windows Explorer. The module also contains the logbook option and an option to scan computers remotely.
The LAN Survey web module that allows you to examine the database using Internet explorer or Netscape.

There is no need for special management consoles. The design of LAN Survey makes deployment easy, since you only have to run a setup on the machine that will act as a database server. Client software runs without setup procedures on Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP. This design significantly reduces deployment and maintenance costs.

With LAN Survey, the collected information is accessible from all Windows computers on your network. You may export data as XLS, CSV, TXT and HTML files. An optional ODBC driver for a direct connection to the database is also included.

The storage of all detected modifications in the database is one of the features that distinguishes LAN Survey from most other tools. An overview of modifications is vital for helpdesks employees since modifications are a common cause of computer malfunctions.
